The Bulls picked a shortstop from South Carolina. Reese Havens, a junior, is batting .360 hitting 16 hrs. driving in 51 RBI's with a .489 OBP and a .960 fielding percentage.

"We feel that he was the best player left in the draft and can reach the Majors the fastest," said manager Trey Thurston. "With our minors being stockpiled with prospects, we selected a strong position player who can move through the minors quickly."

Bulls Take Friedrich In First Round

The Indiana Bulls selected Eastern Kentucky LHP Christian Friedrich in the first round of the 2008 MDBL Rookie Draft. New Bulls GM Trey Thurston said, "We feel our minor league system is very solid. Christian is just the kind of kid we like to add to our system. Our scouting department believes he will develop into a quality starting pitcher."

Friedrich is a junior at EKU. Friedrich is 5-1, with a 1.43 ERA. In 12 starts covering 81 2/3 innings, he has given up 40 hits, 33 walks, and struck out 108 batters.
